I think getting lots of sleep is important. But the pressure to get it really doesn't help it to actually happen. That's my experience anyway. So I think the advice from Isap is great :)

ive had problems sleeping for a long time. recently though ive been sleeping a lot better.

my mind goes into overdrive when im trying to sleep. id imagine for people with anxiety it would be twice as bad. what worked for me was distracting myself from my thoughts with music. i put it on where it was low enough to hear, but no loud enough to disturb your sleep. you find yourself follow the music in your mind and it distracts you from your other thoughts which helps your fall asleep

i also recently read about the 4-7-8 technique on google. it didnt work for me but its worth a try

take care

I've never heard of the 4 7 8 thing but will look. Thanks for mentioning it. Funnily enough I used to listen to music quietly. Classic FM in fact, and I must try that again.

Hi Debs

From personal experience I've discovered that classical music is the most relaxing, and I never used to like it. I can't relax to that isochronic stuff for anxiety , just reminds me I'm I'll.

Hi Deb

How are you doing? Hope the fear has eased or that mindfulness techniques are helping you distance yourself or defuse from it ( that's what I'm doing.)

Sleep is a bugger isn't it?

The NHS has some great advice on sleep. Ritual really worked for me.
https://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/insomnia/Pa ... itual.aspx

The ritual of last resort for me is a hypnosis recording I only ever listen to at bedtime. Got to the point now where my brain so associates it with sleep that it almost always works however tightly wound or fearful I am, even when too antsy to meditate.

I'm aware of the irony in my posting this in the early hours  but don't let that put you off. My problem is no longer getting to sleep, it is wanting to.
