How do i get more fruit in my diet ?

Postby oobydoobie » Fri Aug 10, 2012 3:41 am

Haven't brought much fruit for ages. Co op fresh loose fruit outside Xmas is mainly apples/bananas/and oranges/ satsumas etc and i get bored with it after a while .Their small 'fruit salads' in the chilled section are pricey as are Sainsburys. Sainsburys has more variety but you pay for that variety .

Thinking of buying tins of fruit in natural juices if possible or maybe dried fruit but ? dried fruit is a lot more sugary.

tinned fruit in juice is fine, maybe as a dessert or snack. perhaps you could have cereal for breakfast and add a tablespoonful of raisins or other dried fruit. a glass of fruit juice counts as one serving. is there a greengrocer anywhere near you that you could go to? hugs, Judith xxx

No greengrocer that i know of.There used to be quite a few at one time but i think the supermarkets killed them off.

Have you got a Morrisons near you? I've seen adverts which show that they do some fruit and fruit juices for under £1 in their M Savers range xx

LIDL/ALDI/Netto are usually good sources of cheap fresh fruit. Or a market? x

Lidl's is ok but they only have trolleys not hand baskets . Queues can be horrendous, think loads of shoppers with full up trolleys, and they tend to not give you much time to pack.
Having said that if i had a shopping basket and someone with me i'd go more often as although the quality is highly variable some stuff is good.

How big is it? Same size as the bags at the checkout?

It's a little bit bigger, and folds away into a tiny little pouch so it fits in my pocket x
