His unusual departure was most definitely noted by Micky One Arm, as he pulled up his brewers wagon outside the inn, with his delivery of cheap Kentish ale, and those Spanish sherries, Jamaican rums and coffees, and other vague items that no-one seems to mention, and that seem to be missing the tax component from the price.

'Shhh Bonnie, shhh Clyde' he said to his Shires, 'We'll see what that's all about. Seems like someone owes my friend Mr Pelican an apology- I'm sure we can find some honest work for the lad.'

Pelican saw the blinding black dawn of his own funeral, flowers spelling out 'It's No Joke, This', and vowed, yet again, to stop buying Burbidge's Patented Pick-me-up-powder. And to find the little arsewipe who just trashed his best boarding room. He looked Mickey in one of his eyes, and said 'Fair enough. Do you want a hand there, Mickey?' and immediately regretted it.

:D So are you. Read this thread from start to finish for the first time...wow, a number of conclusions can be drawn, after a little lie down. And try as you might attmp, in a thread where you seem to be the only bloke involved, your occasional v mild attempts to make it slightly less clean are going to fail if you continue to be polite

Divert away, it's fun- weird though I thought it was me doing that- in this new bit I've tried not to in case it's what put people off joining in. Big difference between just 2 people and the bit where loads of people were joining in- seems more like a duel when it's just 2 posters, and lovely and chaotic when a few people are writing.

So, was that your next line, shall I continue with something about Mickey and Pelican looking up at the sky wondering where the interjections came from?

Besides, he'd seen some of the saddle designs through the window, and since his piles were playing up, at the very least he stood to gain (oh for gods sake- thanks pelican) a comfier seat for his hand me down wagon. 3rd generation does not mean the same as in the silicon chip age, he raged mildly and futuristically.

As the pelican walked down the cobblestone street, he looked at his wings and started to remember his now dead wife and how she used to always tell him "they're my hands now, just like your clothes are my clothes." He smiled wistfully and then thought about how much he missed her since the accident...

...when, experimenting with occult practices, she'd accidentally turned him into the big billed, hand-less publican he now spent his days as. At least he could still talk. Speeding up, and flapping his really quite handy wings, he set off for the riverbank where his fondest memories of Griselda could flicker in and out of mind with the light on the water's surface. Except when he glimpsed the movement of a fish, when he uncontrollably went back into pelican mode.

While flapping his wings above the great blue ocean, he remembered that Griselda began practicing the occult when the local nuns came to visit their nice quaint pelican house that they lived in together. The nuns said "we would like you to join our club" and as I break the fourth wall, I shall tell you that is never something you say yes to. Griselda eventually started bringing dead humans home and would say "This is for the Gods" and it made him wince, for the memories of the lovely Griselda that he once remembered, now turned into the ugly memories of Griselda that he now knew...

Staring at Jasper face to face for the first time, the memories rushed past his eye- the unhinged, luminous grin on the woman's face, the desperate braking, the world rotating as he flew from the driver's seat, the crunch of his arm bones as the cart rolled on, the anxious looking..what was that a heron?....This CAN'T be the same lad he saw on the road that night- he was dead as a doornail
