Soothing Songs...don't worry, you will be o.k.

Postby betterinrecovery » Sat Mar 02, 2019 9:07 am

Music can soothe us when we are in a place of emotional distress.
I have found the odd song that I return to often,

Please, please forum members add to the list.
I guess we can help each other and other people.
with love and best wishes.

Another soothing song...
Neapolitan Dreams by Lisa Mitchell

link: https://youtu.be/clqD8l2IK9A

Neapolitan Dreams

You go on I'll be okay
I can dream the rest away
It's just a little touch of fate
It'll be okay

It sure takes its precious time
But it's got right and so have I
I turn my head up to the sky
I focus one thought at a time
I do not let the little thieves
Under my tightly buttoned sleeves

You couldn't be a longer time
I feel like I am walking blind
I have nowhere I'll have time
There are no legible signs
There are no legible signs

I like the way that you talk
I like the way that you walk
It's hard to recreate
Such an individual gate
You wait your turn in the queue
You say your sorries and thank you's
I don't think you're ever
A hundred percent in the room
You're not in the room
You're not in the room

Deepest of the dark nights
Here lies the highest of highs
Neapolitan dreams, stretching out to the sea
You wait your turn in the queue
You say your sorries and thank you's
I don't think you're ever
A hundred percent in the room
You're not in the room
You're not in the room

Hi B!

I find this song really soothing, it is a great reminder that we are not responsible for the whole world.

As I sat sadly by her side, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Rainy Days and Mondays - I find this song to be quite cathartic, Reminded about it when I saw Richard Carpenter on the One Show this week

The Carpenters, Rainy Days and Mondays -

Talking to myself and feeling old.
Sometimes I'd like to quit.
Nothing ever seems to fit.
Hanging around,
Nothing to do but frown.
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

What I've got they used to call the blues.
Nothing is really wrong,
Feeling like I don't belong.
Walking around,
Some kind of lonely clown.

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

Funny but it seems I always wind up here with you.
Nice to know somebody loves me.
Funny but it seems that it's the only thing to do.
Run and find the one who loves me.

What I feel has come and gone before.
No need to talk it out.
We know what it's all about.

Hanging around,
Nothing to do but frown.
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

Funny but it seems that it's the only thing to do.
Run and find the one who loves me.
The one who loves me.

What I feel has come and gone before.
No need to talk it out.
We know what it's all about.
Hanging around,
Nothing to do but frown.
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

Hanging around,
Nothing to do but frown.
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

I find this by Joni Mitchell, soothing, reassuring and comforting...

Joni Mitchell - Both Sides, Now
Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done, but clouds got in my way

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud's illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
********************************************************************************************************************
Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels the dizzy dancing way you feel
When every fairy tale comes real, I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show, you leave 'em laughin' when you go
And if you care don't let them know, don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all
************************************************************************************************************************

Tears and fears and feeling proud, to say, "I love you" right out loud
Schemes and dreams and circus crowds, I've looked at life that way
But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads,
They say I've changed
But something's lost but something's gained in living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Good job there is an editing function here!
So music by James Galway...
this is a meditation....

Remembered this song from my Youth...about loneliness.
I was in my late teens. Many years ago. Lovely to rediscover it.

I love a lonely day sung by Amy Grant...
https://youtu.be/XY2I2MFBd14
"I Love A Lonely Day"

T.V.'s off at 1:00 a.m.
One more day alone again
The road gets longer everyday
Why'd I have to get away
But I have found a comfort here
Solitude can be so dear
Loneliness is not so blue
When it puts my mind on you

[Chorus:]
I love a lonely day
It makes me think of you
All alone, I can easily find your love
I love a lonely day
It chases me to you
It clears my heart
Lets my very best part shine through
It's you

Lonely people everywhere
Lucky, lonely ones who care
You've got all you need and more
Someone to be lonely for
Someone cries for you to hear
Take your heart and wipe their tear
Give them someone they can miss
Give them love and sing them this

[Chorus:I love a lonely day
It makes me think of you
All alone, I can easily find your love
I love a lonely day
It chases me to you
It clears my heart
Lets my very best part shine through
It's you

This is a lovely song,
From The new A Star is Born Film,
Shallows
I so love it, it seems to come into my mind when I am in particular difficulties.
