Please Share Experience of Partners with Depression In Recovery

Postby sparkle101 » Fri May 18, 2018 1:27 am

Hey all.

My partner has a GP appointment to seek help for his depression (finally!) which I am so pleased about. However, hoping for some guidance/advice on what to expect when partners do get help.
Due to his depression, we broke up for about 3 months last year as he said he could not cope with a relationship, didn't feel he loved me, etc. He also left his job and isolated himself during this time.
We got back together and things have been fine since then.
This sounds incredibly selfish - but I am wondering if I need to be concerned about any effects of antidepressants (if he is prescribed them) as I have read that SSRI's can impact feelings of love.

Please share any experiences of partner's recovering/getting help with their depression.

Thank you!

They do say antidepressants can affect libido.
I would suggest it's better to get the depression treated, and your relationship back on track, the rest should follow naturally.

Good luck.
