The black cloud

Postby cookiemonster » Tue Aug 21, 2018 10:35 am

Feeling rough today. Been on ssri’s for 6 weeks now had really good weeks and one week not so great but this week feeling awful. The thoughts have returned that I had before seeking help. Thoughts like I had before trying to take my own life. I’m still doing my boxercise class and going to therapy. Feel like giving up.

Dear Cookiemonster,

Please keep going to the therapy and the exercise class.
Six weeks can be early days with SSRIs - but I would check in with your g.p. for reassurance.
There are ways of managing through the difficult times - some try meditation or yoga skills.
I wonder if your therapist has some ideas of how you can manage in the difficult times until you feel better.
I do hope you feel better soon

B

Thank you for your reply. I am seeing my therapist on Thursday. I find yoga and meditation difficult as I can’t shut off so spend time thinking about what things I should be doin instead.

I hope your GP appointment was helpful for you today? Hope tomorrow's appointment with your therapist will also help you to feel like you can cope with this black cloud until it decides to move on.

Good to hear that your GP has increased your medication and I hope this doesn't trigger any side effects for you. Also hoping that your therapist appointment was ok for you and has maybe given you something to think about?

I have been set some home work by my therapist - I have to continue my positive log and work surrounding night terrors. I have to start having worry time sessions and also attention distraction (eg moving my negative thoughts about moving house to thinking of the positive aspects).
