Does anyone here have experience of taking mirtazapine? How did it go for you? I've been prescribed it by the adult mental health team on top of citalopram, lamotrigine and aripiprazole, but I'm a bit concerned about the side effects...

Helps with sleep.

Would it make me struggle to wake up?

I found even the highest dose of mirtazapine useless and my doc has just given me amitriptyline again.

It helps me sleep but I still wake up early.
Apparently the higher the dose the less sedative effect it has, though helps with early morning low moods.
Hope this helps.

Thank you both!

I've had both. Both were rubbish with side effects. I went through them all until my doctor gave up and decided to bring out the big guns. They are called Lyrica pregablion (I call them magic pills). They calm the brain enough to kill of most the anxiety. They are expensive, so doctors keep them quiet.

I've been on Mirtazapine since 2010, 30mg. For the first few years it worked well. It was also great with sleep though did increase my appetite, mostly carbs. The drug seems to have pooped out now and doesn't seem to work like it used to.
