Re: Please please help me understand what my girlfriend is going through- and if space works

Hello, Welcome to the forum, trying your ideas out in writing can be a great help. Recognising you both have psychological issues is a huge step, and if you have only been in a relationship six month then I would say that is early, which is also good. But as you are both young You still are developi...

Re: Looking for advice

You may think it is strange but I have come to appreciate that pain, like my chest is going to collapse, life always moves on, and if I feel like that when something is lost that pain is inevitable if it was a good thing. To appreciate the memory I am happy to take the pain, and the sobbing. I don't...

my sympathies go out to you.

But your not done, once the shock subsides a new phase In your life will come into focus.
I hope the sense of an immediate urgent problem will fade and you can think more clearly.

Re: Looking for advice

It almost sounds like you are one of those socialable people who just needs other people around, like you haven't before had to consider how you got to the position where you have friends. I think you are over the first hurdle, as you want to be sociable, most people who struggle do so because they ...

Re: Looking for advice

At wekends you can bake and get great meals ready to freeze for yourself and when your son next visits. There are running clubs, and other social sports. Cycling is very popular, I'd be suprised if none of your colleagues are talking about where then rode at the weekend on Monday mornings. Take care...

Re: Looking for advice

My guess is that in couples therapy the therapist will take full account of what your wife wants, it takes some pressure off you both over negotiating. I would remain open to the idea of other help, but it's OK to do start one by one, and the first person you talk to may have good advice about what ...

Re: Looking for advice

Hello, you are welcome to the talk. It's good news that you have been able to make some plans and talk about how to make things work. Regarding therapy I have found so often that it's the wrong time, or the right type can not be found or some other problem comes along. So I'd recommend trying, if it...

Re: Looking for advice for my family

Hello Jmary, sorry you are having such a tough time, I can only offer a little. I have had an addiction although only a short time. Eventually I realised that I was hiding from my self, and what I need to do was stop, and just be myself, even though I didn't like it. Half stopping is not enough the ...

Re: Looking for advice

I am proud you went to the doctor. Many suggested it but it was you that did it. It shows such commitment to your family. A pro recommended relate, that counts I hope she listens to that. Re: Looking for advice

It sounds like you want to be submissive to her, but not that she is dominant, so I would focus on how you can make your relationship equal. In this case pandering to her is what you want but not healthy for the relationship. (There are various reasons why you may have become submissive or lost your...
