Re: Coping with partners depression

Hi there, I've just read your post and am amazed at how calm you sound - I would be furious! Obviously he is unwell, but we (as partners) are constantly told to go easy on them and not push them and, "if they had a broken leg you wouldn't expect them to walk to the shops". But I would cert...

Re: Helping or hindering?

I've been thinking about my 'homework' for a couple of weeks so I'm going to note it down and see if my feelings change at a later date or if they stay the same. Here is my moving out list; 1) find a new place to live. 2) rent a van to move stuff. 3) amend direct debits/standing orders. And that's i...

Re: When is enough actually enough?

Hello, I think its normal to have 'escape fantasies' - I certainly have them and this forum is such a good place to get your feelings out without worrying that somebody is going to get upset or angry. Re: Helping or hindering?

I've been reading about co-dependency and some of the stuff hits home with me. I definitely hide my feelings and have difficulty in saying no to him. I never used to but he just started getting so angry and smashing things up that it was easier to go along with what he wanted than buying new tea cup...

Re: Helping or hindering?

Thank you so much for your kind and helpful reply. I've had a listen to that podcast and it's definitely given me a fresh perspective on things, as have many of the points you mentioned. I have never actually considered before why I have stayed with him. I suppose it's because he is unwell and I don...

Helping or hindering?

I would appreciate some advice and opinions on this as it is something I’ve been struggling with recently. My boyfriend of several years has depression and anxiety and has been having a particularly bad run of things for the past couple of years. Things have deteriorated gradually but have now reach...
