Struggling

Morning, I am just coming out of the grips of a bad bout of CPTSD and Anxiety symptoms. I have illusions, panic attacks, nightmare, auditory illusions and vomiting. My usual coping mechanism is to drink alcohol and that is CLEARLY not working for me. I have managed to pull everything back from the b...

Treatment - not likely

I am in an odd situation. I suffer from CPTSD and Severe Anxiety and I'm fortunate in that I don't need medication (at present - have used it in the past). In January of this year I suffered a severe mental health relapse which necessitated time off work and then I contacted my GP to see about getti...

Re: Anyone cope with voices and hallinations

Hi there ali, I think you need to speak with your healthcare professional be that your GP or a care team. Taking a larger dose of antipsychotic medication is not going to make it go away (that's not how they work). I'm sorry that you're in such distress at the moment, have you tried talking out loud...

Re: When to seek help

Hi there, I think that the answer to this question (which I suspect you know) is yes. "The reason I'm posting today is my thoughts seem to be getting worse and have now started including intrusive thoughts about harming others and myself again. Just today I was in the bathroom at work and found...

Re: I need help!

Hi there, It's nice to meet you. I am also fairly new to the board and find it rather quiet but I thought I'd say hello and respond. If the medication that you're taking for your anxiety is helping you, then that's great but if you also suffer from Depression then it is not going to be addressing th...

Re: Hello...I'm trying to find ways to stay alive. :-)

HI Stu, Welcome and nice to 'meet' you. I don't suffer from depression but I have my own myriad of mental health conditions that leave me drained and unmotivated. A small but useful idea might be to have a 'gratitude list'. Write down the things you enjoy/love/have that make you happy and look at it...

Introduction - current status

Hi, My name is Amber and I'm relatively new to this forum. I found it by chance looking for support. I suffer from severe anxiety and Chronic/Complex PTSD as a result of years of trauma both as a child and as an adult. I have self medicated for years as a way of coping but that is a cycle that I hav...

Re: Panic and Anxiety

Afternoon, Panic and anxiety unfortunately go hand in hand and the symptoms vary from person to person. When we enter into a panic attack our brain goes into 'survival mode' which is, fight, flight or freeze. This is what causes the blood to rush from your stomach to your brain, your circulatory sys...

Re: So Messed Up Don't Know What To Do

Morning Capitalt, Sounds like you're struggling at the moment and that you've also experienced a very difficult time. Sometimes when we're dealing with mental ill-health in the middle of it it's hard to recognise. I became very ill about ten years ago and used all the worst coping mechanisms and als...

Re: How to get my life back on track?

Mental Health Recovery: 1. Most importantly be realistic, you've been unwell and you're recovering now, so ensure that your goals are small, not stressful and if you're having a bad day don't berate yourself for spending the day in bed / in front of the television. 2. Eat well - a balanced and nutri...
