Re: I need help with my partner’s anxiety

I would encourage him to go back to the GP and try and get some more counselling as at least you know it helped last time. It can be frustrating but knowledge is power so try and learn as much about anxiety as you can which may help you to understand how he’s feeling and therefore not feel so frustr...

Re: Getting annoyed with partners obsessiveness

Is it just BDD or does she have anorexia as well? I don’t know her obviously but BMI of 16 sounds dangerously low, and her obsessive talk of being fat makes me wonder as it reminds me of a friend of mine who is anorexic. It certainly can be very draining to be around her so I can empathise with how ...

Re: Would really appreciate some advice

That sounds really difficult for you. I have experienced similar but my husband’s low moods only tend to last a few days at A time, and that’s hard enough to manage. As the other poster said, make sure you look after yourself too. Let him know you are there for him but try not to let his mood drag y...

Re: When is enough enough?

“I often see the confused, vulnerable man under ‘the black dog’ but at what stage does the ‘D’ word become an excuse for verbal abuse” This really rings true with me. My husband says really upsetting things to me when he’s under the black cloud. I try to be patient and understanding because I can se...

Re: Rock bottom

I can’t pretend to understand because my husband doesn’t have psychosis but I can relate to what your saying about him not being the man you love. Its so so hard isn’t it, to balance your own feelings and that of the person you love when they are mentally ill. They can’t help a way they are feeling ...

Re: Husband in a bad place

Hi both, As you may see by my other posts I am in a very similar situation with my hubby. He has good periods but also very low moods where he doesn’t eat much and will not sleep/sleep all the time, he also has periods of anger where his temper is really short and he’ll snap at me and blame me for e...

Re: Feeling powerless

I’m sorry I don’t have any advice I just wanted to thank you for your post because it really rings true with me. My husband has depression (I often wonder if it’s BPD) but he won’t get help. Ive tried for years. Partly because of the stigma and he thinks getting help is a failure and partly because ...

Mental health destroying marriage

My husband has severe depression and anxiety. Has done for as long as I’ve known him but won’t seek any help. We have been together 15 years and married 1, we’ve just bought our first home together. Things seem to be worse since we’ve moved, either he is worse or I am worse at dealing with it, I’m n...

Depressed husband- I can’t hold it together

I’m new here. Looking for some advice and support about my husband. He has had depression and anxiety for many years, as long as I’ve known him (about 15 years). He has had his ups and downs over the years, and I vowed on our wedding day that I would stand by him in sickness and health. But I feel l...
