Re: Thinking of everyone who has mental illness

A beautiful message, Eeyore, and really pertinent. Wishing everyone a manageable, peaceful and hopefully lovely Christmas. Or wishing those just surviving the strength to make it to Thursday relatively unscathed. The comedienne Sarah Millican has a Christmas Day twitter event for people alone tomorr...

Re: Birthday tomorrow - feeling a little down

Thank you, you helped make my day bearable. I managed to get dressed in vibrant red (including the sparkly heels) and took myself to my local independent cinema to watch A Muppet Christmas Carol, with a glass of mulled wine and popcorn. The guy selling me a ticket even flirted with me a little ...

Re: Birthday tomorrow - feeling a little down

Betterinrecovery, that is such a wonderful list. Thank you for being so thoughtful and composing it x I will definitely try out some of your suggestions. The one about bright coloured clothing in particular is a great idea for the winter months. I have some sparkly red heels (but don't think I can w...

Birthday tomorrow - feeling a little down

So, I don't mean to be really depressing, but I'm actually feeling very worried about my 35th birthday which is tomorrow and how I'm going to cope. I've already started feeling a little panicky just thinking about it  I'm trying to be positive and think of nice activities I can do (to get mys...

Voting by Proxy - aaaah

Sorry, but I need to rant. This isn't a post to discuss politics or the general election (as per board rules and common sense) but I've only just discovered, through an extremely belated Rethink Facebook post I saw an hour ago, that by proxy voting is acceptable if you have a mental health condition...

Relatively new to the forum

Hello, I introduced myself to the forum a long time ago, but only posted once or twice. That was a year ago so I thought I would reintroduce myself again. :) I'm WhiteFluffyClouds and I like art, poetry and cooking (when well) and am interested in environmentalism and staring out my window at the sk...

Advocacy (or Independent Mental Health Advocates)

Hello, Just wondering what people's personal experiences of advocacy have been. Have you managed to successfully get one? Were you unable to be represented by an organisation for whatever reason i.e. lack of availability in your area? If you have/had one how good was the service they provided? I'm n...

Re: If you phone the crisis team when in crisis they say contact someone else???

*trigger warning* Two weeks ago I was referred to something called the "Step Up" team with the CMHT after I attended A&E having attempted. They are supposed to offer "intensive support" but couldn't be the least bothered that I've been actively suicidal or my current wellbein...
