Re: Emotional resilience and the impact of its lack

Diary entry Had my first person-centered counselling session today. Interesting. I am trying to focus on feeling the emotions prompted by what I am talking about rather than the words themselves. I clearly need to talk because the first session went by in a flash. I hesitate to say this because my p...

Re: stepping stone

Hi Gorgs 'I'm down everyday and wish it would go away. One of my main problems is my viewing of my sadness as being weak/vulnerable and not being able to let my walls down and let people in, even though I am simultaneously desperate to reach out for human connection. ' I'm very familiar with your ab...

Re: Emotional resilience and the impact of its lack

Fuckey, fuckey, fuckey, fuck!

Wanted to try and stop avoiding whatever is trying to rise to the surface of my brain. Istead, spent the day avoiding it in an extreme manner. Fuck.

Re: Emotional resilience and the impact of its lack

Thanks Deb I agree being resourceful is a big help. Depression and anxiety are liars, never more so than when they convince you there are no alternatives. I equate being resourceful with recognising that there are options and that change is certain, despite what my mind is telling me. Diary Entry Mo...

Re: Emotional resilience and the impact of its lack

Hmmm. Nearly a month since my last diary entry. I've not been well for a few weeks. Really struggling with both depression and anxiety. Still managing to go to work although I have had to make adjustments both at work and at home. Struggling to do anything. The upside is that I have identified yet a...

Re: Emotional resilience and the impact of its lack

Thanks Deb

I think you are spot on but I don't know how I deal with it either. I wish I could accept but if you spend the first half of your life reinforcing and internalising negative messages about yourself and others for reasons of self protection it is so hard to let them go.

Thanks again.

Re: Doctor told me it’s my fault

Hi again! Many people do find a way to climb out of that deep, dark, hole. Unfortunately, I am not one of them  but even that is not the end of the world, I focus on living with it, accepting it is there, managing it and guess what? I even manage to enjoy my life and have fun, constantly toppin...
