Re: Don't know how much more I can take!

I'm sorry I missed your post until now. When mental illness takes over someone you love it is such a strange mix of emotions you suffer. Here is a little of my experience which I hope will help you. Firstly I believe that the illness is incremental, neither of you notice it getting worse and worse b...

Re: the fogotton sufferers

Your post had such resonance with me. I had to end my 29 year marriage for my financial safety because after he saw a private counsellor, then private psychiatrist and was prescribed a high dose of Sertraline all sensible restraint was off, he found himself a girlfriend and spent exhorbitant amounts...

Re: whats wrong with me?!

I hope this might help you as you are describing something I just had. Caught a cold and then a stomach bug, also lost half a stone in weight and didn't need to. Went to emergency doctor, feeling faint and really awful, he told me to rest. Still didn't get better, went to my GP who signed me in for ...

Re: total stranger

Hi, I'm so sorry you are so unhappy, I'm new here today too, I'm a failed carer for my husband, who when it all became too much left me. But living and loving someone with MH illness is debilitating in itself and so I do know what it is to seek comfort in too much food and end up a seemingly differe...

Re: Can Marriage Survive Depression?

When I read your first post, and the word Sertraline, my first reaction was, he'll find another woman, and sadly reading your last, this has happened. I was married 28 years, divorced just before our 30th - I had to divorce him for my financial safety, and you will have to look to your finances smar...

Re: snap out of it....i can't

I'm one of the people who failed a loved one. I didn't understand, didn't want him to be unhappy and full of despair, felt I was responsible in some way. And I think he saw that, and so felt even more alone. And he had been getting more and more ill over the years, and had in odd incremental ways tr...

Re: What happens when he can't borrow any more money

Thank you to you both. I have already protected myself as far as possible, just can't believe how easy it has been for him to borrow so much money, and totally junk his pension too. I agree that he is in a manic state, and also that he is bi polar, I eventually found the term hypomania and the sympt...

What happens when he can't borrow any more money

Hi, like all of you our story is complicated. Apart from all the painful behaviour before and after leaving me, the reason I had to divorce my now 53 year old husband was for my financial safety. We had been comfortably off, but after separating and his psychiatrist putting him Sertraline, he has be...
