SANEline opening hours change

Created: 2008-03-12 16:48:57

SANEline is now open on an out-of-hours basis only, from 6pm to 11pm every day of the year.

SANE receives no central government funding and relies on voluntary income. In the current climate the charity has concerns about gaining the long-term sustainable funding needed to support our work. Because of this, we have taken the decision to focus our efforts on running an effective out of hours helpline service, 365 days a year.

In this way we can meet existing commitments and undertake all our areas of activity; medical and social research, campaigning and providing direct help to those affected by mental health problems.

So SANEline is now open between 6pm and 11pm, 7 days a week, including public holidays. This ensures that critical and immediate help is available when the public need it the most - when other services are closed or difficult to access.

We are continuing to provide a high quality service with shifts managed by our clinical team of professional coordinators, and calls will still be answered by our team of trained and experienced volunteers.

The clinical team will continue to provide follow-up calls and on-going support for those helpline users with complex needs.

If you have any questions about these changes to the SANEline service please contact the director of fundraising and operations, Joel Rose, on 020 7422 5541.
