David Murdoch's life was tragically cut short in 2008 when he committed suicide after a bout of mania: he suffered from chronic bipolar disorder. Throughout his adult life, spent in Scotland, he wrote poems which have been carefully collected into this anthology by close family and friends.
The book is an honourable tribute to his life as a thoughtful and engaging individual. The poems reveal his experiences as a bipolar sufferer, his complex views on religion as well as his musings on life and relationships. They veer from the humorous to the deeply serious.
Flying My Own Plane is available as an ebook from Chipmunka Publishers (and not from Amazon) and will appear as a paperback at the end of the year. The proceeds on the sale of 50 books will be donated to SANE to help finance continued scientific research into mental health.
